Otozuredo is a small shop that sprang forth from the process of tourism development in the Nagato Yumoto hot spring area. It was built with the goal of being useful for the people that visit our town, in the hopes that they can get to know the area and come to love it. The "town watch stand" is the part of Otozuredo where you can learn about events in and around Nagato Yumoto hot spring as well as the area's highlights. Otozuredo also has as small selection original accessories and delicious souvenirs that can serve as pleasant memories of your trip. Otozuredo is also a small gallery where you can learn about Fukawa Hagi ware. The building itself is a private residence built by sisters who had ties with the 12th potter of the Sakakura Shinbei line. The shop's interior was refurbished by the travel loving owner and their friend, a student of architecture at the Kyoto University of Art and Design, who volunteered their time. The interior features hifumi ishi (one-two-three stones), a traditional Japanese pattern made of irregular groupings of three pebbles, which were placed in the floor by local senior citizens, as well as old bath house tiles from the area's former hot springs such as Onto and Sumiyoshi Yoshi So. Location: 2321-1 Fukawa Yumoto, Nagato-shi, Yamaguchi-ken A 10 minute walk from JR West's Nagato-Yumoto Station on the Mine line Direct access from the Nagato Yumoto hot springs parking lot
